GLASS
Sand Cast Glass
My Process
I use handmade wooden or hard plaster moulds which I push into red sand which leaves an impression in the sand.
Inside the impression I place handmade copper pieces and crushed coloured glass.
Ladles of hot molten glass are then taken from a glass furnace and poured into the sand mould.
The finished glass sculpture is then placed into a
kiln for 48 hours or more depending on its size to cool down slowly.
Sand cast glass is unpredictable and exciting you can never say how a finished piece will look no one piece is ever the same.
